Mike Ford named IL Player of the Week

Moosic, Pa. – It’s been quite the season for Mike Ford so far. First, he was named to the 2019 Triple-A All-Star team and now he has been named the International League player of the week for June 24-30.

This past week, Ford batted .417 with three home runs and 10 RBIs. He also recorded a league-best five doubles and covered 26 total bases in that time frame.

As a non-drafted free agent signed by the New York Yankees in 2013, Ford went on to make his debut for the major league team in April before spending the majority of his season with the RailRiders. In the first half of the 2019 season, the 26 year-old lead the IL in OBP at .426 and ranked in the top ten for almost all of the major offensive statistics.

In addition to this recognition, the International League also announced that Ford would be participating in the 2019 Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby during the All-Star festivities in El Paso, Texas on July 8. Ford is one of four players who will represent the IL in the derby.
