Basketball New York Liberty's Tina Charles Named DoubleGSports.com Female Athlete of the Year For the impact Tina had on every team, local, national, and international, we at Double G Sports voted Tina Charles as the 2014 Female Athlete of the Year. by Staff Post February 2, 2015 Photo: Julienne Schaer It was a banner year for the center of the New York Liberty, Tina Charles. She was acquired in a trade last season and led the Liberty in scoring and rebounding. She was one of two Liberty players to make it to the WNBA All-Star team. She was the single best reason the Liberty were even in contention for a playoff spot up to the final day of the 2014 season. But despite the disappointment of missing the post season, Tina Charles continues to play and rack up the honors. She won gold with the U.S. Women’s National Basketball Team at the FIBA World Championships and is having a successful run with Turkish club, Fenerbahçe. For the impact Tina had on every team, local, national, and international, we at Double G Sports voted Tina Charles as the 2014 Female Athlete of the Year. As she returns to Madison Square Garden this May, we have no doubt she will continue to meet and even exceed expectations as she attempts to lead New York to that elusive WNBA Championship.
