They finished the season 11-1 and won the Non-Public State Championship of New Jersey. Head Coach Rich Hansen, who also serves as the school’s AD, has been at Prep for 26 years and his record is 218 wins, 56 loses and one tie. The season began with a win against Henry Wise of Maryland 35-9 and continued with a 49-20 victory over Bergen Catholic. A third victory to start the season, was against Seton Hall Prep 48-10 and St. Peter’s stood at 3-0. They then took on IMG Academy of Florida and suffered what would be their only loss of the season, 36-20. Prep then proceeded to win every game left in the regular season, as well as the three games in the NJ State Football Tournament. Four Hudson County opponents came next, and Prep demolished each of them very handedly. First Ferris fell 63-6, Bayonne was next and shutout 49-0. Union City, a power in its own right fell 62-7 and North Bergen was shutout 69-0. The regular season ended on a high note, when Eastern Christian of Maryland was defeated 41-14. The state tournament opened with a rematch against Seton Hall Prep, who beaten just as badly as the first time, 46-7. Another rematch from the regular season took place in the second round, as Bergen Catholic was again defeated, this time by a score of 31-14. The championship game was played at MetLife Stadium and Prep finished off a dream season by defeating Paramus Catholic 34-18 behind the awesome play of star QB Brandon Wimbush.
