Baseball New York Yankees closer Andrew Miller heading to the Disabled List The dominant closer has a slight strain in his flexor mass muscle. by Staff Post June 11, 2015 Andrew Miller (Presswire) New York Yankees closer Andrew Miller is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a left forearm strain, manager Joe Girardi said. The dominant closer has a slight strain in his flexor mass muscle. Miller said that he felt pain after pitching in Tuesdays 6-1 win over the Nationals, but Girardi added that he had told the team he felt it for a little while. Miller will not pick up a baseball for 10 days, and then the Yankees will decide what to do with their dominating lefty. Miller, who has 17 saves and 43 strikeouts in 26.1 innings this season will be replaced for the time being by Yankees set up man Dellin Betances. The Yankees are still unsure about who will replace Miller on the 25-man roster. With Betances moving up to the closer role, the Yankees have options with who they will make the setup man. They could go with Adam Warren, who has been exceptional in the rotation, but also has been fantastic in the bullpen in the past. The move seems most logical as Yankees starter Ivan Nova has been progressing through minor league rehab starts and could be back with the Yankees baring any setbacks within the next two weeks. The return of Nova, would mean Warren to the bullpen anyway which would make the Yankees even stronger in the back end. The Yankees have also called up right handed pitcher Chris Martin and have sent down Jose Pirela to add more depth to the bullpen.
