MMA NJ’s Frankie Edgar to headline the UFC’s 25th Anniversary show against “The Korean Zombie” New Jersey’s favorite son will help the UFC celebrate 25 back in Denver, Colorado, back where it all began by Daniel Yanofsky July 22, 2018 On November 12, 1993, everything changed. UFC 1 took place the McNichols Sports Arena in Denver, Colorado. 7,800 people in attendance witnessed history as Royce Gracie won an eight-man tournament for $50,000. He also won the hearts of the fans. It was an entertaining night for fight fans just finding out about a new sport to invest their time into. Years later, Frankie Edgar is hoping to entertain those same fans, as well as new ones. It was reported by ESPN that “The Answer” will main event the UFC’s 25th Anniversary show on November 10. UFC Fight Night 139 will take place back in Denver at the Pepsi Center. Edgar’s opponent? “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. Breaking: Frankie Edgar vs. Korean Zombie is “locked in” for Nov. 10 UFC Fight Night main event in Denver, per Dana White. — Brett Okamoto (@bokamotoESPN) July 20, 2018 A week after UFC 230 takes over his backyard of Madison Square Garden, New Jersey’s Frankie Edgar (23-6-1) will look to go for his second win in a row. He won his last fight against Cub Swanson via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 128 in Atlantic City. It was a major rebound win after losing his right at being a contender for the Featherweight Title at UFC 222 against Brian Ortega. A former Lightweight Champion, a win by Edgar can provide him some momentum for a return to the top. On the other side, Jung (14-4) last fought at UFC Fight Night 104 back in February, 2017. He beat Dennis Burmudez with a KO in round one. A knee injury stopped him from fighting Ricardo Lamas. Before that, he had a three-fight win streak before dislocating his shoulder in a loss to Jose Aldo at UFC 163 in 2013. Due to said injury, Jung was sidelined for quite some time. Now, seemingly healthy, “The Korean Zombie” looks to put on a clinic against a rejuvenated Edgar. Also added to the card is a Fight of the Year candidate, as Donald Cerrone (33-1 (1)) faces off against Mike Perry (12-3). Cerrone is coming off of a loss to Leon Edwards at UFC Fight Night 132, while Perry put on an impressive performance against Paul Felder at UFC 226. Ticket information for UFC Fight Night 139 has not been announced yet. Post Views: 1,057 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Daniel Yanofsky Baseball Editor, Misc.
