Football Nova Not Signed By Giants Nova not signed by Giants out of mini-camp. by Staff Post May 11, 2015 (Amanda Marzullo | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com) Yesterday, we highlighted that former Rutgers quarterback had a rookie minicamp tryout this past weekend with the New York Giants. Today, it is learned that Nova unfortunately was not signed by the team based in East Rutherford, N.J. Nova’s solid showing throughout the weekend wasn’t enough for head coach Tom Coughlin and company to sign the Elmwood Park, N.J. native. Dan Salomone at Giants.com highlighted that Nova threw the first long pass completion on Friday to sixth-round draft pick Geremy Davis from Connecticut. The team said they wanted to bring four quarterbacks into training camp in the summer, but only have three currently on the roster: starter Eli Manning, backup Ryan Nassib, and Ricky Stanzi, who signed in the offseason. Typically Coughlin and the team keeps two quarterbacks on the roster for the season, but according to Dan Duggan at NJ.com, a person with knowledge said, “Nova will be signed if the team [ultimately] decides to add a fourth quarterback.” Typically tryout players are faced with long odds to taking up a roster spot, and this is the case with Nova and all the other Rutgers’ players, who were also not signed by their respective tryout teams according to Duggan. While Nova has hit an obstacle, he did have four other minicamp tryout invitations after the draft with the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, and the Miami Dolphins in addition to the Giants according to CBS New York. Might the New England Patriots, who have five ex-Scarlet Knights on their roster, take a chance with Nova with Tom Brady pending a possible suspension for his role in the Deflategate? The former Scarlet Knights signal caller threw 22 touchdowns and 12 interceptions as a senior, and said Saturday in the event he wasn’t retained by the Giants, “Just try to get into another minicamp somewhere else and continue to try and chase this dream.” Post Views: 1,532 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Staff Post Latest posts by Staff Post (see all) In The Zone Announces Initial Podcast Lineup - November 13, 2020 The Essential Resources You Need to Start Your Own Gym in 2020 - February 6, 2020 Wilder vs Fury II – How the second fight will be different to the first? - February 5, 2020 Early turnovers, defensive struggles plague the Scarlet Knights - January 26, 2020 Related Topics2015 NFL DraftGary NovaNew York GiantsrookieRutgers FootballTryout Click to comment You must be logged in to post a comment Login Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
