The Phillies have promoted left-handed pitcher Adam Morgan from triple A Lehigh Valley.

The team made the move Friday, two days after placing veteran pitcher Jerome Williams on the disabled list with a hamstring strain.

In his second season with the Iron Pigs this season, Morgan was 0-6 with a 4.45 ERA. Two seasons ago injury problems shortened Morgan’s season, including surgery in January 2014 to repair a gap in the front area of his pitching shoulder.

Morgan lost all of the 2014 season due to surgery, and in his first season back from injury he will make his major league debut when the Phillies take on the Cardinals on Sunday.

Morgan was the Phillies’ third round pick in 2011, and has gone winless in 13 starts this season. Morgan was pulled after only two innings of work in his final triple A start on Wednesday.
