The Yankees announced today that the organization has agreed to a one-year contract with pitching coach Larry Rothschild for 2017.

Rothschild just finished up his sixth season with the Yankees.

In six years controlling the Yankees pitching staff, Rothschild has led the team to an American League best 2. 94 strikeout-to-walk ratio. This season, the Yankees pitching staff set a single-season franchise record with 1,393 strikeouts.

Rothschild has been manager Joe Girardi’s right-hand-man when it comes to handling the pitching staff and in game decisions.

The previous contract for Rothschild was a two-year deal but it’s not surprising this one is a lone season. In addition to Rothschild, both GM Brian Cashman and Girarid will have their current contracts end at the end of 2017.
