Promising prospects ready for breakout performances at Bellator 207

Will Bellator 207 become the age of the young guns?

It is known that Bellator has a history of bringing aboard older fighters who have fought at the UFC at some point. We see that today with Roy Nelson, Chael Sonnen, Quinton Jackon, etc. Over the past two years, however, they have become the landing spot for some of the best prospects in the game. Many of them will be on display at Bellator 207.

While not as promoted as Aaron Pico has been, several athletes have stuck with Bellator as they are growing with them. Bellator 207 has a few fights that can help shape the future, to go along with a two-day tour of veterans.

Here are two examples of highly-touted prospects:

Kevin Ferguson Jr. v. Corey Browning

At 26, the son of Kimbo Slice is looking to make a true name for himself. Kevin Ferguson Jr. (3-1), fighting out of Connecticut, will be making his lightweight debut, after competing in two catchweight bouts. After losing his first major fight at Bellator 165, “Baby Slice” has won three in a row. Making his Bellator debut, Corey Browning (3-2) will look to bounce back after two losses in a row. Can Ferguson continue to rack up wins as the competition expands? Most importantly, will he be known as a submission specialist or a knockout artist?

Andre Fialho v. Javier Torres

Born in 1994, Andre Fialho is someone Bellator President Scott Coker could be leaning on down the line. With an eight-fight win streak to start his career, Fialho (9-1) is 3-1 in a Bellator cage. He last fought at Bellator 181, defeating A.J. Matthews via split decision. Like most rising prospects, he faces 33-year-old Javier Torres (10-4, 1 NC).

While Gegard Mousasi is the Middleweight Champion, a win or two can raise the stock of Fialho to contender status.

Other fights to watch:

– Sinead Kavanagh v. Janay Harding

– Carrington Banks v. Mandel Nallo

– Sean Lally v. Kemran Lachinov

Can today’s generation of fighters take advantage of the opportunity given to them?
