Rivalry Renewed: Lita v. Mickie James added to WWE Evolution PPV

A classic encounter has been added to WWE’s all-women PPV

One of the shortest, but most fiercest rivalries of the pre-women’s revolution era will be renewed at WWE’s Evolution PPV. Lita will return to the ring to face Mickie James.

Both women are true trailblazers for WWE. They last fought against one another at Survivor Series 2006. Mickie beat Lita for the Women’s Championship, a match that ended up being the latter’s retirement match. Lita came back to WWE in 2012, beating Heath Slater in a squash match and was recently involved in the Women’s Royal Rumble back in January.

Mickie on the other hand has continued to wrestle all over the world, even outside of WWE. She is currently a prominent figure on today’s programming. Combined, the two have won ten titles in WWE. Lita is a Hall of Famer while Mickie is sure to get the call down the road.

While fans would have preferred Lita to face someone like Becky Lynch or Sasha Banks, the old school approach might help sales for the PPV grow. With Trish Stratus already scheduled to face Alexa Bliss, and the various women’s championships being defended, the card is starting to shape up.

Evolution takes place on October 28 at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, NY. Tickets can be purchased at the Coliseum box office or at Ticketmaster.com.
