The veteran signed a two-year deal with Tulsa. Pierson returns to a franchise she was traded from in 2010. She enjoyed her prime years winning WNBA Championships in 2006 and 2008 when the team was in Detroit. Tulsa, who has the supremely talented Skylar Diggins as well as Glory Johnson, two gems from recent drafts, is in essence a young team with a lot of potential to be a power in the near future. Plenette’s signing moves that timetable up. “I have admired the growth and development of this franchise since leaving Tulsa in 2010,” Plenette explained. Pierson’s faith in the product was confirmed as Tulsa also signed Karima Christmas, an unrestricted free agent, to a multi-year contract. The addition of a player of her experience and physical presence can only bring good things to the Shock. Her consistent career numbers to the tune of 9.6 points and 4.3 rebounds will be welcome. “She is a proven winner in the WNBA, and we are excited to have her back in Tulsa,” Shock coach Fred Williams said. New York loses a passionate player who was the enforcer of the team, hence the nickname “Da Enforcer.” Plenette is impressed with her future coaches after two years in New York with Bill Laimbeer. “The coaching staff is dedicated to achieving new levels of success, and I look forward to bringing my championship experience to aid in that quest,” she said.
