The Knicks are (not) doomed in the Draft Lottery

This is the article that Knicks’ fans have been hoping doesn’t come, but here we are with the ol’ doom and gloom article.  The NBA Draft Lottery is just one day away and will be taking place on Tuesday, May 14th starting at 8 PM.  The New York Knicks had the worst record in the league but only have a 14 % chance to win the lottery, the same odds as the Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns.

These odds changed in September 2017 as part of the restructuring of the draft lottery.  Instead of having the top seed having a 25% chance of obtaining the #1 pick and be able to finish no lower than fourth, the odds are now split between the top three seeds at 14% and the top seed will have no worse than the fifth pick.

If it’s confusing, it basically means that as soon as the Knicks finally got their tank right, the NBA changed the lottery structure on them and they have worse odds than last year.  Everything is going against the Knicks right now and let me tell you folks, it’s only going to get worse.

In all seriousness, come Tuesday night hopefully the Knicks wind up with a top two pick because they really can’t go wrong with Zion Williamson or Ja Morant.  They have good juju with former #1 overall pick Patrick Ewing and they’re actually due for a top two pick.  They need it in the worst way and it’s coming.

Good luck Knicks fans;  Luck has always been against you.  The Knicks have been probably the most downtrodden franchise in the NBA for nearly fifteen years.  They have a chance to potentially turn the franchise around.  Will it happen?  If only they still used envelopes…
