MMA UFC adds two more bouts to UFC 223 in Brooklyn Two new bouts featuring stars looking to get back on top added to the UFC’s premier card in Brooklyn by Daniel Yanofsky February 13, 2018 Just by looking at the card for UFC 223, you’d think the company wouldn’t have more surprise matchups for the fans. Those that doubted have been proven wrong, as two more bouts have officially been added to the star-studded card. Bec Rawlings will be looking to get back into the win column against Ashlee Evans-Smith. Newsday was the first to confirm the fight. The two flyweights have struggled in their last few affairs. Rawlings (7-7) has lost three fights in a row. The former Ultimate Fighter’s last win came against Seo Hee Ham at UFC Fight Night 85 in 2016. A former member of the World Series of Fighting, Evans-Smith’s (5-3) career has had an interesting turn. After going 5-1 in her first few fights, she has lost two in a row. The last win under her belt also came in 2016, at UFC Fight Night 93. With a stacked flyweight division, one of these fighters will look to prove they can compete with the very best the UFC has to offer. It’s all about who wants it more. On the other side, the UFC announced a featherweight showdown between two brawlers. In another story of redemption, Artem Lobov will square up against Alex Caceres. Lobov ( 13-14-1 (1) ) has lost two fights in a row while Caceres ( 13-11 (1) ) lost three of his last four bouts. The former Ultimate Fighter participants are veterans of the game and are looking for any way to get back on top. The redemption arc is a good story, especially for an event like UFC 223. If all goes according to plan, we could be seeing some dark horse picks for Fight of the Night. UFC 223 takes place on April 7th inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The main event features a Lightweight Championship bout between Tony Ferguson and challenger Khabib Nurmagomedov. The co-main event features Rose Namajunas defending her Strawweight Title against Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
