MMA UFC Fight Night Report: Mickey Gall will get his shot at CM Punk by Daniel Yanofsky February 8, 2016 This past weekend at UFC Fight Night 82 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Mickey Gall’s fate was in his own hands. In order to be the first opponent to face CM Punk, it was announced that the young fighter had to defeat Mike Jackson. There was some curiosity on how he would react to the pressure. Less than a minute into the first round, we got our answer. Mickey Gall defeated Jackson via submission in convincing fashion. After months of waiting, an opponent has been made for CM Punk. Gall is now 2-0 in his career, and will look to face the former WWE Champion and UFC newbie. UFC President Dana White clearly is excited for the upcoming challenge: httpss://twitter.com/danawhite/status/696136467924398081 While a time and place for the fight was not officially announced, many are speculating that it will be at UFC 199. Like myself, there are others hoping the waiting will pay off. Gall spoke briefly on Fox Sport 1 to talk about his recent match, and his new target: httpss://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb5jzlQLlYU Did you hear that? Mickey Gall just stated: “I’m gonna to beat up a superstar.” You have to admire the confidence from this kid. The 24-year old is definitely ready to go. As for CM Punk, this is his now-or-never moment. The 37-year old is looking to prove that he belongs after announcing his intention to fight in the octagon. That announcement was made only a few months after leaving WWE on sour terms. Sometime this year, CM Punk will be looking to show why he always called himself the best in the world. As a guy with great mic skills, I expect Punk to play a lot of mind games. In the other corner, Mickey Gall is here to show everyone he’s the real deal, and not a sideshow for anyone else. What could result from this is a moment to remember for both fighters. This should be one wild ride. Let the games begin!
