Long Island fighter on the first Long Island card? Let’s keep this going, UFC.

The light-heavyweight bout between Gian Villante and Patrick Cummins, originally slated for UFC Albany in December, has been rebooked for the first Long Island card, UFC on FOX 25 on July 22. 

Newsday was first to make the announcement. The promotion has yet to confirm but Cummins posted on his personal instagram account Thursday morning that a fight has been signed. He did not confirm when the fight was or who his opponent is.

The UFC announcement their inaugural visit to the island last month. This is the first bout signed so far but speculations have been made as to who could headline the July card.

Villante (15-8) is coming off a 2nd round TKO loss to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua on March 11. The fight earned both Villante and Shogun Fight of the Night honors and an extra $50k. 

Cummins (9-4) is coming off a majority decision win at UFC 210 earlier this month over Jan Blachowicz.
