Yankee Stadium Partners With Board of Elections For Bronx Poll Worker Training

“The Yankees are excited to extend their commitment to the local community around Yankee Stadium with this new partnership with the Board of Elections in the City of New York,” said Brian Smith, Yankees Senior Vice President of Corporate/Community Relations.

The New York Yankees have partnered with the Board of Elections in the City of New York to host four consecutive days of Bronx poll worker training in the Great Hall at Yankee Stadium. Training began Tuesday, October 20, and will continue through Friday, October 23.

“The Yankees are excited to extend their commitment to the local community around Yankee Stadium with this new partnership with the Board of Elections in the City of New York,” said Brian Smith, Yankees Senior Vice President of Corporate/Community Relations. “Opening our building for poll worker training will facilitate the ability of Bronx residents to participate in the upcoming election and increase their opportunity for civic engagement. Our organization is honored to be able to contribute to this process.”

Every year basis, the Board of Elections in the City of New York trains nearly 10,000 poll workers in the Bronx to serve the needs of the Agency for both Early Voting and Election Day. Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the Agency has to train workers while maintaining appropriate distancing. Yankee Stadium opened it’s doors to provide space for approximately 200 total poll workers.

Many professional sports leagues and teams have created initiatives designed to encourage everyone to register to vote, and either vote in person or by mail-in ballot.
