Ducks Double Up Patriots 4-2

july29FINALCentral Islip, NY – The Long Island Ducks (8-11, 54-35) defeated the Somerset Patriots (13-7, 63-27) 4-2 Wednesday evening at Bethpage Ballpark.

 

In the top of the first inning right fielder Michael Burgess recorded a RBI double to give Somerset a 1-0 advantage.

 

Left fielder Aharon Eggleston sprayed a RBI double in the top of the third inning as Somerset expanded its lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.

 

The Ducks evened the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning as second baseman Blake Davis drilled a two RBI double.

 

Designated hitter Randy Ruiz socked a home run (7) in the bottom of the seventh to give Long Island a 3-2 lead.

 

The Flock added a run in the home half of the eighth inning as pitcher Paul Smyth hurled a wild pitch that plated a run making the score 4-2.

 

Donnie Veal earned the win (1-0) in the relief. Anthony Collazo suffered the loss (3-1) in relief. Ryan Kussmaul notched the save (25) pitching the final inning.
