MMA Ronda Rousey contemplated suicide after loss to Holly Holm by Daniel Yanofsky February 17, 2016 The entire world was shocked when Holly Holm defeated Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. Right after the announcement, fans couldn’t wait for a rematch between the two. There was a point when many, including myself, became impatient. Fans saw Rousey line up for movie roles and TV appearances, appearing to avoid a rematch at all costs. One thing we tend to forget is that like us, Rousey is a human being. It may have seemed like she was untouchable, but that isn’t who she truly is. She makes mistakes and she can definitely feel pain. While on the Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday, Rousey finally felt safe to open up about how she felt after her fight with Holly Holm. At one point, the 29-year old UFC star contemplated taking her own life. httpss://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwCdv9iR8P8 “I was sitting in the corner and was like, ‘What am I anymore if I’m not this? Literally sitting there thinking about killing myself. In that exact second, I’m like, ‘I’m nothing. What do I do anymore? No one gives a s–t about me anymore without this.'” It is very sad when someone is going through something like that. For Rousey, being number one was everything to her, and she felt like it was taken away. From the looks of things, it appears that Ronda felt relaxed enough to tell her story and bring it out into the open. She also knows when she is ready to continue what she loves to do; fight and entertain. It is great to see Ronda Rousey looking comfortable and almost back to her former self. While she was going through a tough battle, she knows she will never be alone. Her boyfriend and UFC fighter Travis Browne, her family and her fans are always there to support her. Opening up about something like that instead of bottling it up is a great message for those young fans watching. I’m sure she will continue to be an inspiration to many. When Ronda Rousey finally gets back into the ring, it will be interesting to see how she takes it all in. All eyes will be on her from various perspectives. That shouldn’t matter to her in the long run. What’s great is that she will be doing it on her terms, and with her head held high.
