Baseball Yard Goats’ Lambert Named Eastern League Player of the Month by Christopher Goossens July 12, 2018 Hartford Yard Goats starting pitcher Peter Lambert has been named the Eastern League Player of the Month. His June was extremely impressive, as he posted a 5-0 record to go along with a minuscule 1.16 earned run average. Lambert is the first player on the team this season to take home the honors, and the second to be honored by the league. The other was Brendan Rodgers, who was named Player of the Week on April 22nd of this year. The former second-round is still the youngest player on the squad, having just turned 21 years old in April. He pitched 38.2 innings in the month of June, striking out 31 batters while allowing just the same number of hit and an astounding 3 walks. He leads the league in both ERA and WHIP, at 2.23 and 0.99 respectively. Additionally, Lambert is second in wins (8) and innings (92.2), so it came as no surprise when he was named an All-Star. Since then, he’s been promoted to the Rockies’ Triple-A club. He made his debut for the Albuquerque Isotopes on July 4th, and it was nearly as impressive as his starts in Hartford. Lambert went 6 strong innings, garnering the win while giving up just 2 runs. At such a young age, Lambert’s path to the Major Leagues is basically inevitable. He will remain in AAA for now, but perhaps a late-season call-up to Colorado is in the works.
