Brooklyn Cyclones Move Forward After All-Star Break

The Brooklyn Cyclones were swept by the Hudson Valley Renegades earlier in the season but this time around were victorious in the first of a makeshift double-header. The Cyclones defeated the Renegades by the score of 9-2 which tied them for first place for the McNamara Division. Sadly, they lost the second game by the score of 4-3, and the Renegades proceeded to take back first place.  With the second loss, the Cyclones fall one game short out of the division leaders.

Brooklyn has been walked off in four of its five games at Dutchess Stadium this season. Ross Adolph has hit three home runs in the series, going 4-10 with four RBI.

The Cyclones outfielder has been on a roll as he also became the first player in team history to hit an all-star homer or earn the MVP award on Tuesday night’s New York-Penn League All-Star Game in State College, PA.

The All-Star game included several cyclones.  Infielder Carlos Cortes and outfielder Wagner Lagrange both entered the game as substitutes and went 1-2. Brooklyn relievers Billy Oxford and Yeudy Colon worked scoreless innings.

“It was a lot of fun, I got out there and just told myself to do what I’ve been doing all year and stay within myself and let the batters get themselves out,  we have a pretty good chance of making the playoffs this year and this is a great team so hopefully I can help them get there,” RHP Billy Oxford explained when asked about pitching a scoreless inning in the All-Star game.

The Cyclones will play their last game of the series Sunday at 5pm and then will travel to Troy, NY to face the Tri-City Valley Cats on a three game series.
