Saturday night he looks to remind the UFC fans that when he faces former Middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold. The top contenders will be featured as the main event of UFC Fight Night 116 at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA this Saturday night. “I want to put on an entertaining fight,” said Branch in an interview with UFC.com. “[I] want to put on an entertaining fight by finishing the fight. I enjoy finishing the fight, but sometimes it doesn’t happen. I’m usually very dominant in my fights and people don’t recognize how hard it is to dominate another professional athlete who’s trained all of those years. They don’t give you credit for that; they just want to see fireworks.” Branch is a veteran in this sport. After making his professional debut a decade ago on the professional MMA card, Cage Fights 6, Branch headed north. From there he competed for New Jersey’s well-known promotion, Ring of Combat, then onto Bellator MMA before making his first appearance in the UFC octagon in 2010. After being released by the promotion in 2011, Branch appeared in other leagues including Titan FC. It wasn’t until 2012 when he fought on World Series of Fighting 1 where he found his home for the next four years. From 2012 to his last fight with the promotion at WSOF 34 in December, Branch went on a 10-fight win streak earning the 185- and 205- pound titles. The 35-year-old is now the former two-division champion for WSOF*. After retaining both of his titles late last year, Branch made his return to the UFC after six-years in May. *WSOF is now known as the Professional Fighter League.
