Pro Wrestling DGS Main Event Pro Wrestling Tag Team of the Year- The Young Bucks by Daniel Yanofsky December 24, 2016 Young Bucks (Bleacher Report) In a year with great tag teams, one team superkicked their way to the top spot. Some would say the winners of the DGS Main Event Award for Tag Team of the Year are “Too Sweet”. Matt and Nick Jackson continued their momentum from 2015 and doubled it. From Southern California all the way to Japan, The Young Bucks dominated wherever they went. They have also left a path of destruction along the way, whether its by streamers overload, or their merchandise sales which have gone through the roof this year. With multiple innovative tag team finishers in their arsenal, The Young Bucks know how to get the job done. In a way, they’ve made the superkick a thing of their own. While it seems like they overdue it, that may be the point. It is a move that is so exciting to see, you have to get your fill of it. With greatness obviously comes controversy. Some teams/fans may have a problem with them, but they could care less. httpss://twitter.com/MattJackson13/status/812559925872181248?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet These two truly know how the business works, and they have definitely taken advantage of that (for their family as well). The brothers from California are one of the best things going in the Bullet Club (besides ELITE teammate Kenny Omega). This year alone was special for them. They became the following: – Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions in an EPIC Ladder War Match. (Current Champions) – IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions- 2x (current champions). With their latest reign, they became the first team to hold the title five times. – NEVER Openweight 6 Man Tag Team Champions- 2x. – PWG World Tag Team Champions (current champions) – SCW Tag Team Champions (Current champions) – Wrestling Observer Newsletter 5 Star Match (with Adam Cole v. Matt Sydal, Ricochet and Will Ospreay) That is a lot of hardware for them, and it looks like more will be coming. Fans love them as much as they love themselves. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is a big fan of this team (it does help that they have named a move after him). Expect some announcements when the PWI and Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards are announced. What a way to start off the DGS Main Event Awards. Congratulations to The Young Bucks. If you’re not down with this choice, I’m sure they will have two words for ya… Honorable mention: The Revival: It pains me to not give the “Top Guys” the top spot, especially with the year they had. Their old school approach is the best thing WWE has to offer. They went into 2016 as NXT Tag Team Champions and won the titles immediately after losing them later this year. It looks they are (hopefully) on the rode to WrestleMania. Remember their motto come 2017: No Flips, just fists.
