Basketball Hofstra MBB complete improbable comeback with buzzer beater by Wright-Foreman by Chris Passarelli January 6, 2019 Hofstra Pride senior guard Justin Wright-Foreman has been something else this season. Despite things looking grim late in the second half against Northeastern, JWF showed the Mack Sports Complex just why he’s the reigning USBWA Player of the Week and a nominee for the Naismith Award, given to NCAA’s top basketball player. Hofstra was able to overcome a huge decifit with a 14-2 run in the final five minutes of the contest, capped off by one of the more improbable shots in Hofstra history: It was a heartbreaking loss for Northeastern, but just what the doctor ordered for Hofstra. Wright-Foreman was excellent as usual in this contest, tallying 42 points, seven rebounds. He wasn’t helped much by his teammates, but Hofstra was feisty on the boards all night. Jacquil Taylor added ten points with six rebounds, and Tareq Coburn also had a monster day on the boards with seven rebounds. The win boosts Hofstra to 13-3, 3-0 in the CAA. They are on a hot streak, winning ten straight and boosting their resume before CAA Tournament play begins in early March. The only way they’re going to get into the tournament is with a CAA win, and with a strong conference record so far they’re setting themselves up for a bye. As long as they can win most of their games going forward, they should be a shoo-in for the #1 seed. This team goes as Wright-Foreman goes, and as you’ve seen in the NCAA in general, sometimes one player is all you need. JWF can’t do everything, but he sure as hell can try. With their captain and top player firing on all cylinders, Hofstra is a dangerous team. Be on the lookout for them if they make the tournament with this stud in the backcourt.
