Pro Wrestling Impact Wrestling Original Abyss to be Inducted into the Impact Hall of Fame Abyss is a multiple-time champion for the company he debuted for in 2002 by Daniel Yanofsky September 24, 2018 When celebrating the run Impact Wrestling has had, one can’t help but appreciate the efforts of the “TNA” Originals. One member of that group has been around since Impact’s inception in 2002, and continues to entertain fans today. It was announced that Abyss will become the 2018 inductee for the Impact Hall of Fame. Real name Chris Park, Abyss debuted at Impact’s first weekly PPV as Justice. After that appearance, we wouldn’t really see Chris until he was rebranded as “The Monster” Abyss in 2003. A hybrid between Kane and Mankind, Abyss was treated as an unstoppable force, who loved to be around dangerous weapons. Teamed with James Mitchell, Abyss would compete in Barbed Wire Massacre matches, while using tacks, glass and a nailed bat named Janice as weapons of choice. Whether he was face or heel, Abyss brought an edge into Impact’s program. Throughout his time with the promotion he became an NWA World Heavyweight Champion, a two-time TV Champion, a one-time X Division Champion and both a one-time NWA and two-time TNA Tag Team Champion. He is the fourth Triple Crown Champion for the company and the second Grand Slam Champion. Abyss has had some memorable feuds over the years, from A.J. Styles to Sting to Christian Cage to Dr. Stevie and Raven. He has been a part of one of the best teams in the companies history in The Decay, and continues to be entertaining with his alter ego, Joseph Park Esq. The Hall of Fame induction of Abyss will be held on October 13 at McHale’s Pub in midtown Manhattan. Tickets are on sale now. Following this event will be Bound for Glory (October 14), taking place inside the Melrose Ballroom. The main event features Austin Aries defending the Impact World Championship against Johnny Impact.
