Islanders’ Adam Pelech Done For Season

The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman Adam Pelech is ruled out for the remainder of the regular season with a torn achilles. GM Lou Lamoriello says the injury occurred during off-ice warmups prior to New York’s Jan. 2 matchup with the New Jersey Devils.

Pelech, 25, has recorded a goal and eight assists this season playing a defensive game. He has been paired with Ryan Pulock for a majority of the season as well. In the playoffs last year, Pelech was a large factor in shutting down Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby.

The Islanders have called up 23-year-old Sebastian Aho from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Aho has 20 points in 34 games this season in the AHL and played 22 games with the Islanders during the 2017-18 season, notching a goal and three assists.
