Hockey Islanders’ Adam Pelech Done For Season by Will Wiegelman January 3, 2020 The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman Adam Pelech is ruled out for the remainder of the regular season with a torn achilles. GM Lou Lamoriello says the injury occurred during off-ice warmups prior to New York’s Jan. 2 matchup with the New Jersey Devils. Pelech, 25, has recorded a goal and eight assists this season playing a defensive game. He has been paired with Ryan Pulock for a majority of the season as well. In the playoffs last year, Pelech was a large factor in shutting down Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby. The Islanders have called up 23-year-old Sebastian Aho from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Aho has 20 points in 34 games this season in the AHL and played 22 games with the Islanders during the 2017-18 season, notching a goal and three assists.
