Jets kick off Salute to Service Week with Military Flag Football Game

The New York Jets will cap off their Salute to Service Week on Sunday with a Salute to Service Game against the Buffalo Bills. On Tuesday, the team kicked off their week of special events with a Military Flag Football Game at MetLife Stadium.

Jets players Darron Lee, Rishard Matthews, Josh McCown and Andre Roberts attended the game, coaching teams made up of members of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

It was the eighth military flag football game supported by the Jets. Prior to playing, the service men and women were surprised in the Jets locker room with custom Salute to Service jerseys.

The festivities will continue throughout the week. On Wednesday, the Jets will debut special Salute to Service jerseys the team will wear this week as they prepare for their game against Buffalo on Sunday. At the end of the week, the jerseys will be autographed and made available on NFL Auction. Proceeds from the jersey auction will be given to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Smart Home Program. Through this program, the foundation builds mortgage-free smart homes for our most catastrophically injured service members.

On Thursday, Jets staff will prepare care packages to be sent to military bases all over the world for Salute to Service flag football games around Thanksgiving.

The Jets will host a military Gold Star family for a special day at Atlantic Health Jets Training Center on Friday. The day will include watching practice, lunch and a special surprise.

Over 150 military members are invited for breakfast and to attend a walk-through practice at Atlantic Health Jets Training Center on Saturday. After practice, the guests will be able to meet and greet with Jets players.

The Jets will play the Bills, Sunday at 1pm at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
