Jets trade Leonard Williams across town to Giants

The New York Jets made a move they’ve been trying to make for what seems like two years.  They finally traded away defensive end Leonard Williams.  They were able to trade Williams cross-town to the New York Giants in exchange for a 2020 third round pick and a 2021 fifth round pick.

Although Williams showed he had incredible talent, being drafted sixth overall in the 2015 Draft, he was never able to reach his full potential with the Jets.  Whether it be the scheme he played in or his effort, the only time Williams was able to click within the Jets’ defense was his 2016 Pro Bowl campaign.

Williams gets a new lease on life with the Giants, and the Jets finally get rid of what they deemed to be a burden.  It’s not that Williams isn’t talented, because he was clearly a stud in college and in his first year with the Jets.  It’s that his lethargic attitude and lack of production gave the Jets no choice.  Good luck to Williams with the Giants.
