Hockey Kuhnhackl, Martin both out 4-6 weeks by Chris Passarelli October 27, 2019 Lou Lamoriello spoke to the media today before the Islanders’ 7 PM game against the Philadephia Flyers. He confirmed that both Tom Kuhnhackl and Matt Martin were out 4-6 weeks with lower body injuries. Both Kuhnhackl and Martin sustained the injuries in Friday’s 4-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators. For Kuhnhackl, it was expected that he’d be out a long time, as he hobbled off the ice with the help of his teammates and landed awkwardly originally. As for Martin, the prognosis was previously unknown as he came back for the third period in Friday’s game and played somewhat normal minutes after crashing into an open Ottawa Senators’ bench door. As for other Islanders, Leo Komarov is still ill with what’s assumed to be the flu. Jordan Eberle has been skating but hasn’t started practicing with the team yet. Andrew Ladd is still on track to get back in late November, if there are no setbacks. Josh Ho-Sang must be kicking himself for his decision to sit out for Bridgeport until he’s either traded or released. Ho-Sang would have been the first call-up after Jordan Eberle’s injury, but that instead went to Oliver Wahlstrom. With Wahlstrom and newcomer Cole Bardreau both in the fold, Ho-Sang can’t be happy with the decision he made. At some point he needed a fresh start, but he could have made a big impact with the Islanders.
