The La Salle women’s basketball team traveled to Cambridge, Massachusetts to play Harvard on January 10, ending their non-conference schedule. Entering the game, their record was 5-11, with Harvard’s at 8-6. After a close contest the entire game, the Pilgrims pulled ahead to end the game 70-61, giving La Salle yet another road loss.

Sophomore center, Sofilia Ngwafang, led La Salle in points off the bench with 18; matching her career high. She also went 9-for-12 from the floor and snatched a game high seven rebounds. Amy Griffin helped the team, sinking 15 points, while guard Adreanna Miller finished with 10.

The Explorers started the game off strong with a 6-0 run until the Pilgrims answered 16 uncontested points. Harvard kept up that momentum, controlling the remaining first quarter and taking a 23-10 advantage into the second quarter.

La Salle did not go unresponsive for long, roaring back in the second quarter with an 11-2 run. That chopped Harvard’s lead to 26-21. The Pilgrim’s responded back quickly, pulling the lead back out to 12 right before the half.

The third and fourth quarters resulted in the Explorers trying to play catch up. They scored six even points; that was able to get them within seven points of Harvard, but they did not have enough in order to make it a two possession game.

The La Salle Explorers will return home on Saturday for Atlantic-10 play; they will be hosting St. Bonaventure at 1:00 pm.
