College Looking Back on the Quakers Championship Team by Renee Washington December 13, 2015 After winning a share of the Ivy League Title, Penn head coach Ray Priore was named the Coach of the Year. Priore is in his 29th season as a member of the Penn football staff, but the first as head coach. He also led the Quakers to two wins over ranked opponents on the road. In addition to Coach of the year, numerous players received post season accolades as well. Penn sophomore wide receiver Justin Watson (Bridgeville, Pa.) and senior linebacker Tyler Drake (Sr., LB – Plantation, Fla.) were unanimous selections. Both players had successful 2015 seasons. Watson recorded 10 touchdowns in just as many games with a gain of 154 rushing yards and loss of 0. He finished with 1,082 receiving yards. Drake led the Quakers defense with a total of 80 tackles (45 solo, 35 assisted). He also recorded 8.5 sacks for 55 yards and two interceptions for five yards. In addition to Drake and Watson, Tanner Thexton (Sr., OL – Somerville, N.J.) and Alek Torgersen (Jr., QB – Huntington Beach, Calif.) were named to the first team All-Ivy offensive team. Torgersen averaged 32.9 yards on his punts. He also scored six touchdowns with a total of 320 rushing yards and 1,996 passing yards. Daniel Poulus (Jr., OL – Park Ridge, Ill.) and Ryan O’Malley (Sr., TE – Summit, N.J.) were both named to the second team All-Ivy offensive team. Lukas Nossem (Sr., DL – Munster, Ind.) and Ian Dobbins (Sr., DB – Belle Vernon, Pa.) were named to the second team All-Ivy defensive team. Nossem finished with 23 tackles (14 solo, 9 assisted) and three sacks for 14 yards. Dobbins made 48 tackles (25 solo, 23 assisted). He also had three interceptions for a total of 40 yards. Nick Demes (Jr., OL – Western Springs, Ill.) and Donald Panciello (Jr., LB/LS – Succasunna, N.J.) were named to the conference honorable mention list.
