Fortune Favors The Bold

The good news, Fordham’s offense played a hell of a game. The bad news, Monmouth Hawks took a gamble in overtime. They went for the win instead of the tie by going for two and managed to convert, defeating the Rams 42-41.

Monmouth quarterback Cody Williams found Reggie White Jr. alone in the end zone for a two-point conversion that sealed the win. Fordham could of won the game in regulation, but kicker Makay Redd missed a game winning 47 yard field goal as time expired.

Monmouth won the toss and chose to play defense first, sending the Rams offense on the field to start overtime. After a couple of plays and a first down, Anderson found Longi over the middle, putting the Rams on the 2-yard line. Like clockwork, Edmonds found the endzone a couple of plays later and put the Rams up 41-34.

The Fordham defense struggle in overtime. Monmouth found the end zone quickly, once again on a run up the middle. After calling a timeout, they decided to continue attacking the ineffective Fordham defense and went for the win. While Dawson came in unblocked off the edge, White was somehow left alone in the end zone for an easy completion and a 42-41 Monmouth victory.

Fordham’s defense didn’t have it’s best game but did find away to force four turnovers. The Rams gave up 481 yards of offense, including an average of 9.1 yards per completion. The Rams just couldn’t get the late game stops as Monmouth  just kept moving the chains in the fourth quarter and in overtime. You just have to believe, that Monmouth knew the chances of completing the two point conversion was high and worth the risk because of the late play of Fordham’s defense.

Kevin Anderson completed 16 of 33 passes for 214 yards and two touchdowns and Austin Longi led the Fordham receivers with five catches for 106 yards and a score. Anderson did turn the ball over. The offense tried it’s best to keep the Rams in the game.

Chase Edmonds Continues To Shine

Edmonds had a great day, rushing for 208 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries. His second touchdown set a new school rushing touchdown record. He has 52 and counting after less than three seasons as a Ram. Edmonds now has 20 100-yard rushing games and six 200-yards rushing games in his career, both school records.

The Rams fall to 2-2 with the loss. Their next game will be at home at 1 p.m. against Lafayette, their first Patriot League opponent.
