The Staten Island Yankees hosted the Connecticut Tigers on Saturday for the last time during the regular season. The game was played despite inclement weather  and was called after 5 innings were completed, but 5 innings were just enough for the Staten Island Yankees to take care of things.

On the mound for the Staten Island Yankees was the high heat thrower Jorge Guzman (5-3), who pitched all 5 innings and once again put a show with his velocity.  He lit up the radar gun with his fastball reaching 102 mph, while allowing only two hits and one run.  Guzman walked one and struck out three.

The DH Ryan Krill went 2-for-2 with an RBI.

The shortstop Wilkerman Garcia went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

The Center Fielder Cesar Diaz had a Sac-Fly, an RBI, a walk and a run scored.

Third baseman Welfrin Mateo and Shortstop  Wilkerman Garcia were hit by a pitch from the Tigers starter Oswaldo Castillo (3-3).

On Sunday, the Staten Island Yankees hit the road to face the Iron Birds with RHP Jonathan Loaisiga on the mound.  With a victory, they will officially clinch a playoff spot.
