Feature Philadelphia Union’s Playoff Hopes Damaged with Loss to New England by Jayson Love August 31, 2015 from:PhiladelphiaUnion.com The New England Revolution are one of the top squads in the MLS Eastern Conference. They showed it Saturday night defeating the Union at PPL Park by the frustrating score line of 1-0. The Union were frustrated by an organized Revs side that held Philadelphia to just 2 shots on target out of 12 attempts. New England was able to get a second-half goal by Fagundez that the Revs made hold up. After the weekend’s results, the Union find themselves in last place just off of the final playoff spot, but now chasing four other squads including an apparently rejuvenated Orlando City side that drew the Chicago Fire. Most frustrating for Philadelphia is NYCFC continued its losing ways with a home defeat to Columbus Crew while the Impact lost again to Toronto. If the Union had managed a draw, it would have been even in the table with three other teams, now they find themselves behind those teams and even with Chicago Fire. The good news is, the teams around the Union continue to lose, but the bad news is, the Union continue not to be able to distance themselves from these squads. The even worse news is, they travel to San Jose next a place at which they have never won.
