Sky Blue FC Voted Double G Sports’ Women’s Team of the Year 2016

The 2016 season started off historically for the professional women’s soccer team based out of Piscataway Township, New Jersey, Sky Blue FC, defeated Seattle Reign 2–1 and handing two-time National Women’s Soccer League Shield winning team its first-ever home loss.  Sky Blue FC started six players who had never played for the league before this season including 2016 NWSL Rookie of the Year, Sky Blue FC midfielder Raquel Rodriguez.

They finished the season with a total of 26 points, putting them in 7th place with an overall season record of 7-8-5

Other finalists for Women’s Team of the Year included WNBA’s New York Liberty, the women’s professional football team, the New York Sharks and the women’s lacrosse league, the Long Island Sound.
