Super Bowl LIII: Why the New England Patriots will win

The New England Patriots have reached their ninth Super Bowl, an NFL record.  They’re looking to tie the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl wins in NFL history with six.  They’re looking to become essentially the greatest franchise in NFL history.  Tom Brady is ready to cement his legacy once again, Rob Gronkowski is looking to ride off into the sunset with a championship, and Bill Bellichick is always going to be grumpy regardless of what happens.

The Patriots have an interesting task at hand;  The upstart Los Angeles Rams.  The Rams are similar to last year Super Bowl champ Eagles in the sense that nothing is off the table.  No formation, no motion, no play call is off the table for coaches like Sean McVay and Doug Pederson.  The Patriots struggled with that once, but they’re prepared to face that again.  Here are three reasons why the Patriots will win number six;

They’ve been here before

It’s definitely obvious to say, but Bill Bellichick, Tom Brady, and the New England Patriots have had a cup of coffee at the Super Bowl.  The Los Angeles Rams have not.  Sean McVay, Jared Goff, Todd Gurley, essentially every other player on the roster have not been through this week before.

This is business as usual for the Pats.  The immense pressure facing the Rams is nothing for the Pats.  They’ve done Super Bowl media many times before, they’ve done the routine what is now nine times.  They have experience in this game many times over.  They have arguably the greatest coach and greatest quarterback of all time on their side.  Sean McVay may be the future, but Bill Bellichick is still here.

We haven’t seen Jared Goff carry a game in the playoffs

Jared Goff was fantastic in the regular season.  He has been for two straight years now.  However, the Rams made their way to the Super Bowl through the running game.  A heavy dose of CJ Anderson and a less dose of Todd Gurley beat the Cowboys and the Saints.

The Patriots win because they take away a team’s best asset.  If they take away the running game, Jared Goff will need to guide the Rams to a Super Bowl win.  He has Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods, but if he’s under pressure all game from a decent but stout defense it could be a long day for the young quarterback.

James White becomes a hero again

James White is one of the most underrated players in the game.  He can do everything;  Run, pass protect, catch the ball out of the backfield.  If the Patriots are to win the Super Bowl, HE will be the X-Factor.

Just like many other unsung heroes of Patriots past, White will be the key to winning the game.  He’s the one that can get the tough yardage on 3 and short.  He’s the one that can break a screen or swing pass for a long touchdown.  James White will bring the Patriots another Super Bowl the perfect Patriot way.

The Patriots are ramping up for a sixth Super Bowl win.  These three reasons will be why they win it.  With Bill Bellichick, Tom Brady, and the rest of the team, they’ve set a standard of winning we may never see again.  Don’t be surprised that the wily old vet Brady gets his sixth this weekend.
