Swing and a Miss for Mike Missanelli

Mike Missanelli is a Philadelphia sports radio personality that host the Mike Missanelli Show weekdays from 2-6 p.m ET. The show is broadcast through 97.5 The Fanatic as well as NBC Sports Philadelphia (TV Stream).

During Tuesday’s show, Missanelli and his producers, Tyrone Johnson and  Natalie Egenolf got into a discussion surrounding Amy Cooper. Cooper, who is an employee for the investment company Franklin Templeton, was caught on video calling the police, and claiming that she was being attacked at Central Park by an African American male named Christian Cooper (No Relation).

“I’m taking a picture and calling the cops,” Amy Cooper is heard saying in the video. “I’m going to tell them there’s an African American man threatening my life.”

After watching the video, it was clear that Christian Cooper was in no way threatening the life of Amy Cooper, but instead asking if she could put a leash on her dog.

Since the incident occurred, Cooper has been fired from her job.

Johnson’s and Egenolf’s stance on the situation was very similar. What Cooper did was actually considered to be a crime, and she should face criminal charges.

Missanelli’s stance on the situation was not so cut and dry. Although he did believe what the women did was wrong, he said that she could have implied that she was being verbally attacked, instead of being physically assaulted.

This then led to a disagreement between Egenolf and Missanelli which resulted in Missanelli saying, “You’re looking at it like a layperson and I’m looking at it like an attorney.”

After the three continued to disagree on the manner, Missanelli took it upon himself to call for a commercial break and then proceeded to chuck his headphones across the room and stare indignantly twoards his producers.

After the commercial break was over, the show came back on the air and it was apparent that the argument had escalated between breaks. Although the microphones were muted, it was clear to see that Johnson and Missanelli were shouting at each other between the glass. Before the mics became unmuted, it appeared as if Missanelli pointed twoards the direction of Johnson and shouted an expletive that somewhere in the range of F*ck You.

Philly Voice, which is a local news website, reached out to 97.5 for further comment.

“Mike tried to pull the, ‘I’m a lawyer’ shit. Tyrone then read him the actual law,” one station employee said to PhillyVoice on Tuesday evening. “Natalie is agreeing with [Tyrone], so now Mike has been embarrassed and has the rest of his show ‘ganging’ up on him. And he threw a temper tantrum because he’s a f**king child.”

The Station, Missanelli, Johnson nor Egenolf has yet to come out with an official statement regarding the situation at hand.
