MMA UFC 203: Mickey Gall beats CM Punk, requests fight with “Super” Sage Northcutt by Daniel Yanofsky September 12, 2016 Mickey Gall didn’t seem to break a sweat at UFC 203. In about two minutes into the first round Gall submitted former professional wrestler CM Punk, who didn’t have a chance to get any offense in. Punk will try to fight again in the future, but its Gall who will most likely have a longer lasting impact inside the octagon. *While many (myself included) could see the outcome a mile away, its disappointing that the fight ended so quickly. I will give CM Punk all the credit in the world; at almost 40-years old he fulfilled his dream and fought inside the octagon. That is an achievement in itself. * Before the fight, Mickey Gall stated that he had someone in mind to face after this was all over. When Joe Rogan came up to him, the 24-year old didn’t hesitate. Gall called out another young fighter in the UFC, “Super” Sage Northcutt (8-1). httpss://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e6P7ZOjOHA I previously discussed the progression of “Super” Sage after his bout at UFC 200. At only 20-years old, the Texas A&M University alum is someone worth challenging. I still stand by my claim that he could be the future of the industry, and Gall may not be that far behind. A fight with an experienced athlete might be the true test Mickey Gall needs to prove himself to the world. As for Northcutt, a fight against Gall might help his “street cred” as a fighter willing to take on all challengers. Dana White didn’t seem to have an issue with the potential bout. The UFC President stated he’s looking to make it happen ASAP. httpss://twitter.com/shaunalshatti/status/774851478120898560 This could be a great bout between two potential mainstays in the UFC. Even though Gall doesn’t have as many professional fights under his belt like Northcutt does, that shouldn’t stop the fight from being very competitive. Both of their styles clashing together could make for a classic. Whether on the preliminary or main card of a PPV, one thing is guaranteed: they will make sure all eyes are on them by the end of the night. When the potential fight would be is an interesting question. If I’m Dana White, I wouldn’t hesitate and meet with Team Gall and Team Northcutt within the next few days. Here’s hoping fans get to see that fight before 2016 ends, or at least early 2017. Who knows, the (potential) fight between these two could be one to remember for a long time.
