Other Sports WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T Running For Mayor Of Houston by Jason Cordner December 18, 2016 Booker T, a WWE Hall of Famer and five-time WCW Champion, will run for Mayor of Houston in 2019. Mr. Harlem Heat himself , will look to step into a different kinda ring. “I am happy to report that after great deliberation and with the counsel of my family and friends, I have decided to run for the office of Mayor in the 2019 race,” Huffman wrote in a letter he posted on Twitter. “I believe in my heart that all Houstonians, regardless of their economic circumstances, deserve the same opportunities to build a better life for themselves,” he added. “I look forward to having a dialogue with the voters of Houston and if I am so privileged to serve, I will fight for them as hard as I fought for myself and my family over the last 30 years,” the letter concludes.” Booker T Huffman, 51, grew up in Houston. Performing as Booker T, he won pro wrestling championships in the 1990s and 2000s and battled the sport’s biggest names including The Rock and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, eventually being inducted into the WWE’s pro wrestling Hall of Fame. Booker T was inspired to enter politics by Rhyno, who ran for Michigan House of Representatives, but was unsuccessful. Other ex-WWE employees who entered politics include Jesse “The Body” Ventura as the governor of Minnesota from 1999-2003, Linda McMahon running for Senator of Connecticut of twice, but she didn’t win, however, Donald Trump, who made some past appearances in WWE named her head of the Small Business Administration as president-elect. I believe Booker T could succeed where other former WWE stars failed in politics. Booker has a calm demeanor that could serve him well in the political field. Win or lose, Booker T will always do good by the people who support him.
