Who do Yankees, Red Sox Play in Final Ten Games?

Boston leads AL East by three games with ten remaining in regular season

The 2017 American League East title comes down to the final ten games of the regular season. Entering play on Friday, the Boston Red Sox hold a three game lead over the New York Yankees. Each ten has ten games remaining to decide who wins the division and who plays in a one-game Wild Card.

Both the Yankees and Red Sox are on a roll of late. New York has won eight of their last ten games while Boston has won seven in that same span. Each team will play seven of their final ten games in their home ballparks, where they ironically have identical 46-28 records.

The Yankees begin their ten game stretch on the road in Toronto before returning to Yankee Stadium for the final seven. The Red Sox, similarly, hit the road for their final series away from Fenway Park, beginning a three game series in Cincinnati on Friday.

Boston will play the Reds, followed by the Blue Jays and Houston Astros. The Red Sox have yet to play the Reds this season, but are a combined 14-5 against Toronto (12-4) and Houston (2-1).

Following the Yankees series in Toronto, they return home to host the Kansas City Royals (1 game), Tampa Bay Rays (3 games) and Blue Jays (3 games). New York is a combined 20-15 against those opponents this season.

It will be a tough task for the Yankees to catch the Red Sox with just ten games remaining, but the offense has been hot of late. The Red Sox completed a sweep of the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, but it took two big comebacks to do so.

Boston sends Rick Porcello (10-17, 4.46) to the mound to begin the series in Cincinnati on Friday. He will face Sal Romano (5-6, 4.07). The Yankees will have Masahiro Tanaka (12-11, 4.73) kick off the series in Toronto against Marco Estrada (9-8, 4.84).

The Yankees are currently schedule to follow Tanaka with Sonny Gray and Jordan Montgomery.
