YES Network analyst, David Cone, to join FOX Sports broadcast booth for ALDS

Former Yankees pitcher will be part of FOX broadcast of ALDS series between Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros.

It turns out David Cone’s inclusion on a FOX Sports crew that broadcast a game on Saturday was a prelude of what’s to come. The former Yankees pitcher and current YES Network analyst will once again join Joe Davis and AJ Pierzynski, this time, as part of FOX Sports coverage of the American League Division Series between the Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros.

As many Yankees fans know, Cone does a very nice job in the booth, using his past experience as a quality Major League pitcher, when calling a game. Cone joins former catcher AJ Pierzynski. The combination of having former pitchers and catchers work together seems to create a unique pairing.

Of course, another benefit to having Cone work the series is his familiarity with the Red Sox. A an analyst on Yankees games, Cone has had plenty of experience working their games against Boston.

Cone is not the first New York area analyst FOX Sports has poached for the playoffs. The network announced on Monday that Keith Hernandez would replace Pete Rose and work alongside Alex Rodriguez and former SNY reporter Kevin Burkhardt for the studio show.

The MLB postseason begins tonight at 8:00 pm when the New York Yankees host the Minnesota Twins in the American League Wild Card game. The National League Wild Card between the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks is scheduled to take place Wednesday evening.
