High School Sports Immaculate Conception storms past Westwood 67-31 by Staff Post February 10, 2015 Immaculate Conception held a slim 16-9 advantage at the end of the 1st quarter but went on a 11-0 run to start the 2nd quarter to break the contest wide open against sixth-seeded Westwood going on to win 67-31 in the quarterfinals at Becton High School in East Rutherford and advancing to the semifinals of the Bergen County Girls Basketball Tournament. The Blue Wolves will face off against Saddle River Day at Ramapo College on February 15th at 2:00 p.m. “Our defense has been playing very well of late which is the key,” said Immaculate Conception Head Coach Jeff Horohonich. “Other players have stepped up and contributed,” added Horohonich. “Once we got settled into our defense that helped the offense which had good ball movement and good looks at the basket where the kids banged shots down” Samantha-Feuhring netted a game high 16 points while Jasmine Gee contributed 11 points. Westwood briefly cut the lead down to 14 points in the 3rd quarter but Lodi Immaculate got their mojo back on a spectacular coast to coast left handed layup by Breanne Bellerand who was fouled and completed the three-point play expanding the lead to 40-21. After the Cardinals put the first points on the scoreboard in the first quarter, the Blue Wolves went on a 9-0 run. The margin would grow to 14-3 but consecutive baskets by Jaide Hinds-Clarke reduced the lead to 14-7.
