Sharks Shock the Philadelphia Soul, Knock them out of the Playoffs

The Philadelphia Soul’s season came to an abrupt end on Sunday evening in the Arena Football League American Conference Championship game to the Jacksonville Sharks in Voorhees, New Jersey.

The Soul came into the game with a record of while the Sharks were playing Cinderella, playing in the Conference championship game after starting the season with a 1-5 record.

The game went back and forth the whole time, and the most controversial play of both team’s seasons came with: 18 left, when a Jacksonville kick looked like it went directly over the right goal post. At first, the kick was called good, but after review, the kick was ruled no good.

The Soul had one last chance to win the game down by five with: 18 left. QB Raudabaugh, from his own 13 yard line and with three timeouts, could not complete the comeback, and the Soul lost by a score of 61-56. They end their season with a record of 16-4.

The Soul were the #1 overall seed in the American Conference The Sharks and Soul had met twice before the regular season. The Soul won the first meeting in Week 3 by a score of 63-52, and the Sharks won the second game by a score of 55-47 in Week 8.
