Feature Spieth Cut at the Barclays; Watson, Stenson, Johnson and Duffner Make their Move as Finau Doesn’t Back Down by Jayson Love August 28, 2015 from: sportsunbiased.com Edison, NJ – It was “Waiting for Godot” at The Barclays Friday afternoon as onlookers kept hoping for a moment that just didn’t come for Jordan Spieth. The world no. 1 golfer will all but certainly lose that title as the tournament will go on without his presence this weekend. Spieth entered the day sitting at 4 shots over par and started off well birdying his first hole to immediately get to +3 for the tournament. The masses hoped that would buoy his spirits but unfortunately for Spieth, that was the best he would get to with relation to par. After parring 2 and 3, Spieth bogeyed 4 of the next 5 holes and finished the front-9 with a 2-over 36 moving his aggregate score to +6. Once again it appeared Spieth would make a move when he birdied 10 and 11 to get back to plus 4. However, he faded away carding a 37 on the back-9 that featured a double-bogey 7 on the par-5 12th hole for a total of 7-over for the tournament. Spieth wasn’t the only star felled by Plainfield County Club. Ricky Fowler ended +3 just missing the +2 cut-line. Fowler looked good for the weekend when he stepped up to the tee at #17 at even par for the tournament. However, he took an 8 on the hole leaving him needing eagle at the 18th where he made birdie. Fowler’s back-9 also featured a triple bogey 7 on #10. Brandt Snedeker will also not be sticking around, and sentimental favorite Davis Love III ended at +9 and will also be going home. While Spieth was fading along with Fowler, Bubba Watson and Henrik Stenson were making their move. Watson carded an impressive 68 to lead the field at 7 under while Stenson shot the second best round of the day, a 66 to end at 6 under for the tournament. Meanwhile Zach Johnson fired the low round, a 65 to get to 6 under just a stroke off of Bubba Watson. Jason Duffner backed up his 66 with a steady 68 to join the crowded leaderboard at 6 under par. American, Tony Finau backed up his opening round 65 with an up and down round but finished 1 under on the day and also at 6 under for the tournament.
