Other Sports My dream list of potential contenders for the Global Cruiserweight Series by Staff Post February 24, 2016 Jay Lethal This past week a huge announcement was made. In my opinion, this is some of the best news coming out of WWE in 2016. Triple H confirmed that on July 13, the WWE Network will premiere a ten-week tournament featuring 32 cruiserweight wrestlers from around the globe to compete live from Full Sail University. Triple H has shown great interest in working with different promotions to showcase phenomenal talent. He has been building a relationship with promoters like Gabe Sapolsky who has a great product with EVOLVE. Triple H has also mentioned Progress and Rev Pro as potential places to pick participants from, so this cruiserweight series looks like its going to be a ground breaking event. This news allows WWE to pick from a slew of wrestlers and make matches that fans thought that they would never see. Because I am so amped up for this tournament, I’ve decided to come up with a list of wrestlers that I would love to see in this tournament. Ok, here you go readers! Kalisto Aiden English Prince Puma Fenix Jay Lethal Johnny Gargano Rich Swann Johnny Mundo Alex Shelley Chris Sabin Sami Zayn Kofi Kingston Tommaso Ciampa Tye Dillinger Sami Callihan Simon Gotch Tracy Williams Neville Jimmy Havoc William Ospreay Mysterious Q Eddie Edwards Eddie Edwards Erik Lockhart Andrew Lockhart Shinsuke Nakamura Kenta Angelico Pentagon Jr. Kota Ibushi Matt Taven Kenny Omega So there it is. My dream list for this tournament! Of course, i would love to include many more talented wrestlers. I could even think of a great list for an inter-gendered tournament, but I thought that I would keep it realistic to the people who would be able to wrestle, due to their flexible contracts or being free agents if they aren’t already signed to WWE. I am truly looking forward to the announcement of the official list. This tournament will bring a lot of new eyes to wrestlers who have been making a splash in different parts of the world for years, but maybe they haven’t received as much notoriety in the states. I predict many subscriptions to WWE Network in July. As a fan, all I can say is thank you Triple H for seeking out talent and not focusing on size.
