A Brooklyn Diva Fashionably Fabulous – At The Top of Her Game

So the “mother” of all track and field relays will be taking place as it usually does every year, the last weekend in April.  If you are a track and field aficionado you will not be caught anywhere else but in Philly attending the Penn Relays at the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field.

It is one of the most electrifying events to be where anywhere from 50,000 screaming fans can be see and heard cheering on their favorite high school, college or even pro athletes.  One of those professional athletes with Nike is none other than a native New Yorker, born and raised in Brooklyn, Natasha Hastings.

She is not only fashionably fabulous on and off the track, this diva is an Olympian.  The world will get a chance to watch her and her teammates as the USA take on the World live.  (It will also be aired on ESPN at 8pm.)  The young woman has grace the field at Penn’s many times.  As a matter her fact she is fondly remembered for her gritty performance when a competitor stepped on her spikes and they came off her foot.  She ran barefooted the rest of the way to hand off the baton to her team mate Allyson Felix and won the race by the way.

She also holds a record at Penn’s and is #1 this year in the 400M indoor.

Tasha as she is affectionately called began running at the age of 9.  Her mother once thought she “looked ridiculous on the track” but Tasha soon made her a believer.  She won 1st place in the Girl’s Division at the Junior Olympics and has won almost every race she ran indoor and outdoor in high school at A Phillip Randolph High in New York.

She went on to a successful collegiate career as a Lady Gamecock at the University of South Carolina.  There she also set personal records in the 200M and 400M.  She has fought against many setbacks to get where she is as an athlete: torn quad, tendonitis and wore a boot for 2 months, upper respitory infection but never let it stop her.

Whenever Tasha comes out to run, she makes a fashion statement, whether it’s with her ever-changing hairstyles or her uniform.  The looks every bit of the diva that she is,  “running things” as a track and field icon.  She is a household name in the track world and will prove once again at Penn’s that she has the “it” factor.
