Silva (33-8-1) has lost his last 4 out of 5 fights with one no contest in his bout with Nick Diaz last January. His most recent loss being his short notice bout at light heavyweight against UFC LHW champion Daniel Cormier at UFC 200. Silva stepped up in two days notice when Jon Jones was forced to withdraw due to a USADA violation.

Brunson (16-4) is coming off a loss to Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs. Brunson in November. Prior to that he was on a five fight win streak with the promotion.

The UFC has been taking major heat since the official fight card for the first pay-per-view of 2017 was announced. UFC commentator Joe Rogan suggested that there was another fight in the works for the Brooklyn card to add more buying-power to it. With 13-fights already signed for, one can assume this was the final bout he was referring to.

Tickets are still on sale for UFC 208 through Ticketmaster.com.
