Soccer Bradley Wright-Phillips Wins MLS Player of the Week Award by Staff Post May 24, 2016 (AP Photo/John Raoux) It’s not surprising at all that the New York Red Bulls would have the MLS Player of the Week after they triumphed over their rivals, NYCFC by seven goals. And it’s Bradley Wright-Phillips who reaps the rewards of this victory by receiving the honors of the MLS’ player of the week. Wright-Phillips scored twice and added an assist to help make his mark on a historically significant Red Bulls victory. Wright-Phillips did it in style too scoring his two goals in less than five minutes. His first goal he used his head to make it 2-0 and his second goal was a stunning overhead kick just before half time to make it 3-0. Then in the second half he helped make it a day to remember for Alex Muyl when Wright-Phillips set him up for his first ever MLS goal. It’s a deserving honor for Wright-Phillips as he and the Red Bulls look to keep their hot streak alive when they take on Toronto FC on Saturday the 28th.
