Baseball Mets’ Harvey Will be Shut down at 180 Innings? Scott Boras says So by Jayson Love September 5, 2015 from: speakerpedia.comMatt Harvey has 166.1 if Scott Boras has his way, he will thrown just 13 and 2/3 more innings this season. Miami, FL – When Matt Harvey met the media ahead of tonight’s Mets-Marlins game, he had some interesting things to say about the comments made by his agent, the ever-popular, Scott Boras. Although Mets’ Harvey says he is focused on his next start, and that he “wanted to stay out of it” with regards to innings limits and whether or not he would be shut down. He stated that he “never wants to put the ball down” , but then stated hat he hired Scott Boras and Dr. Andrews as his surgeon because he “trusted them to keep [his] career going and keep [him] healthy”. Boras and Andrews have been quoted as saying that Harvey shouldn’t pitch more than 180 innings this season – he sits at 166 and 1/3 as of today with a start looming in Washington next week. The Mets face the biggest series of the year starting Monday and the timing of Boras’s comments are undeniably on purpose to create a stir at the season’s biggest moment. The Mets have stated that they wouldn’t shut down Harvey for the playoff race and the playoffs. This is precisely the distraction the New York Mets don’t need which is again, precisely why Boras who is player-centric in his approach, created this distraction. Especially considering the last two times the Mets were in this situation; 2007 and 2008, the team collapsed including a monumentally mind-boggling collapse of a 7.5 game lead with 17 games to go in 2007, a nearly impossible feat. This team figured to be different spearheaded by pitchers like deGrom and Harvey, but with Harvey being fed this line of well, insert what you want to call it here, it has to create a sense of unrest for the Mets who currently sit 5 up in the division but the lead seems smaller.
