Hockey Prudential Center Hosts Annual Mikey Strong Charity Hockey Game by Stefany Romero March 23, 2019 On Friday night, the Prudential Center hosted the annual Mikey Strong Charity Hockey Game, and it has certainly made a difference since it’s inauguration. Throughout its existence, the charity game has brought in over $300,000 to help treat spinal cord injuries. Its reach has not been lost on those who get to take part, like WFAN host Boomer Esiason. Esiason’s team won 7-5 against Team Reeve on Friday night in which it was a fun back and forth game for both teams, and a fun display of joining together. “Mikey Strong is one of the most emotionally strong events that I have ever been a part of. When we began this partnership five years ago, I had no idea that it would turn into the success that it has become, due in large part to the heroic inspiration that Mikey Nichols is.” said Esiason. Former Devils captain Bryce Salvador, three time Stanley Cup winner Ken Daneyko , and 1995 champion Bruce Driver were all part of the Hockey Star studded bunch that joined together on the ice for a great cause. Mikey Nichols suffered a C-5 fracture while playing in a 2014 game for the Monroe High School ice hockey team. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Nichols Family Trust, which provides for Nichols’ medical needs. It also helps raise money for the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation, which is dedicated to curing spinal cord injuries by funding innovative research and improving the quality of life for individuals living with paralysis.
