Pedone Charity Events Milana Family Foundation Golf Outing promotes Man Cave Health and prostate awareness by Chris Passarelli June 16, 2019 Double G Sports had the honor of being able to cover the 4th Annual Milana Family Foundation Golf Outing, whose goal was to support Man Cave Health and prostate cancer awareness. Man Cave Health is a unique patient care model making it more comfortable for men to go to the doctor by replacing the traditional, clinical setting with sports themed facilities that are designed with more masculine décor which includes memorabilia from local sports teams, flat-screened televisions, leather seating and coffee bars. Men can feel at ease, complete with a team of friends, medical professionals, educators and advocates ready to help them take control of their healthcare journey. Mount Sinai in New York unveiled the first Man Cave at its Midtown Manhattan urology practice. Twelve more Man Caves are in the works and will eventually roll out across the country. Although the rain did not cooperate with the golf outing, the event still raised awareness for Prostate Cancer and prostate awareness. There were free Prostate Awareness Antigen (PSA) screenings throughout the morning for anyone who wanted to check their PSA levels. This was all thanks to BioRefrence Laboratories Inc. and GenPath. We were able to speak with Dr. Katz of Winthrop Hospital on the importance of PSA screenings. “Men around 40 years old should really start checking their PSA. It’s an important screening because it shows how susceptible you are to prostate cancer. It doesn’t necessarily show that you have prostate cancer, but an elevated level is cause for concern. The screenings are about a day turnaround time and are a vital part of prostate health”. After the screenings and the golf outing, there was also a wonderful dinner at the end of the day for all guests, a poker tournament and even a special guest appearance by a President Donald Trump impersonator. Overall, it was a grand success and raised money for a great cause. There were lots of laughs and thanks to President of Man Cave Health Thomas Milana Jr. and his family, it was all possible. “We are extremely thankful to have had BioReference Laboratories Inc. and GenPath participate and provide complimentary, on-site PSA testing to all participants of our event. We are grateful for our friends, family, sponsors and advocates who support us in our mission to bring awareness to Man Cave Health and our goal to save lives. All of our guests had a great time and we look forward to our next event”.
